Kannada Book Fair Commenced at Oval Grounds

On Sunday, Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi opened the Kannada Book Fair sponsored by the Department at the University Oval Grounds near the Old DC office.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the Dasara Book Fair will feature a wide range of Kannada books such as those on Folklore, Literature, Yakshagana, Theatre, Music, Dance, Sculptures, and so on.
He asserted that the Government is attentive to Kannada publishers' needs, pointing out that the books are being sold at a lower price during the expo.
Noting that the government has recognised the hardship of Kannada book publishers, he stated that he will consult with senior officials about ways to assist the publishers.
Later, the Minister visited the University of Mysore Prasaranga and Samvahana Prakashana's book shops.
On the occasion, folk musician N. Basavaiah and his troupe performed folk songs. Dr. Manjula, Kannada and Culture Department Secretary, Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, K.B. Kiran Singh, Publishers D.N. Lokappa, Samskruti Subramanya, Medical writer Dr. V. Lakshminarayan, and others were in attendance.
